Gauhati University Distance Education
Gauhati University, also known as GU, is a public state university located in Guwahati, Assam, India. It was established on 26 January 1948 under an Act enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. Gauhati university distance education is the oldest university in Northeast India and is accredited with a grade of "A" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various faculties, including Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Engineering, and Technology. It has 341 affiliated colleges across the state of Assam. GU IDOL, which stands for the Graduate Institute of Distance and Open Learning, was established in 1998 as the Post Graduate Correspondence School.
